H50 Review: 10.05 – He ‘oi’o kuhihewa; he kaka ola i ‘ike ‘ia e ka makaula(Don’t blame ghosts&spirits for one’s troubles; a human is responsible) Happy Halloween

NOTE:  Several people DMed me on Twitter over the weekend to say, for some reason, they couldn’t comment on this post on Saturday or Sunday.  I just got home from Wedding Weekend and saw the DMs.  So, I’m attempting to post it again in the hopes that this time it will work properly.  Maybe it was because I posted it from my phone instead of my laptop? Who knows? Hopefully this time it will work!  Oh…BTW.. I still haven’t seen the episode! LOL

Hi everyone! Well, tomorrow is the wedding. 👰🤵To be honest.. this was written a week ago and saved for posting now. As I’m writing this, I haven’t seen this episode yet. I’ve been just a teeeeny bit distracted 🤣. But like last week, I didn’t want to let a week go by without giving you guys a place to talk about the episode if you’re so inclined. I’m leaving it up to you guys to “write the review” again. I’m looking forward to reading everything you’ve all got to say about what looks like a really fun episode.

Halloween episodes are always a hoot and having Max back for this one is sure to make it even more enjoyable. And I love all the promo photos of everyone in their costumes. I’ve been waiting for a full on dress up Halloween from this show for years! I’m a bit disappointed that Steve isn’t dressing up as a certain vampire but I’ll take what fun I can get! 🤣🤣

So have at it again my friends. I’m really looking forward to hearing everything you have to say about this episode. I’ll be back next week when life gets back to normal!

Aloha. Malama Pono

I must say that for a Halloween episode, it was awesome! Eddie was so cute as The Lion King and while I’m not sure what Steve was supposed to be,he did look good. It was great to see Max, although somewhat disappointing that he & Steve didn’t get to see each other face to face, only communicated through a phone call. Max’s son was adorable and it was awesome to see them as John Wick 2 and 3(You John Wick fans will know what I’m talking about).

Gotta say that Tani, Quinn and Noelani looked fantastic in their costumes-mermaid, Maverick from Top Gun and Elton John, respectively. As we know though, crime does not take a holiday as Noelani found out when she received a call that a young girl’s body had been found and was being taken to her office for autopsy. Just as Noelani began the task, she was interrupted and sought out whoever caused the disruption. She ran into a policeman, who got the lights back on. When she returned to the autopsy room, the body was gone.

Steve was called in and he reassured his medical examiner-friend that it was not her fault and that he would find the body and bring it back so she could do her work. Elsewhere, Lou and Adam were investigating the disappearance of a man with a grotesque face. Kinda reminded me of a movie from years ago about a young boy with a disfigured face-Cher was in it, but the title escapes me at the moment. Anyway, it turned out his mother was a nun who had entrusted a fellow nun to take him to a hospital and leave him there. Instead, the second nun kept him in her home for many years, in a locked room. How he got out, I still don’t know.

Of course, we know that people were scared of him, particularly children who were trick or treating. I loved it when Max talked to him and told him that people have a tough time accepting people who are different, Max even referred to his son, whom he adopted and to himself (we know from a few seasons back that Max was left on a church doorstep and was eventually adopted). His point was that the man was not alone, that everyone is different. Coming from Max, it meant a lot and seeing the man and his mother reunite over their shared condition of having one blue eye and one brown eye was lovely.

As for the young girl, it turned out that her sister killed the men she held responsible for the death. As Steve escorted the body back to the examiner’s office, he and Noelani looked at each other with total respect. Love Flippa’s mother, too-she was one sassy lady! Hope like you like my summary, Linda!

Great to see Max and there was lots going on……creepy bits, fun with Flippa’s mom ( she was a hoot) action, cute kids and a serious message too. Shame there was no Danny again – he and Max have such good exchanges.. I think they missed out a bit on that because Max was closest to Steve & Danny., but he was with everyone but them.. I did enjoy it more than S-9 Halloween episode. I’m really liking all the get togethers they are ending with…….just need D back.
On a personal note: hope the wedding festivities went well and you have lots of wonderful pics and memorable moments. Now you can relax!
