#H50 Review – 7.02 No ke aliʻi wahine a me ka ʻāina (For Queen and Country)

Ahhhh the last day of September, the beginning of autumn, the first real feel of wonderfully cool fall air so, of course, I get sick!  Typical.  But, what better medicine is there for a shivery, achy body then a Friday night dose of Hawaii Five-0?

So, instead of being in bed and asleep like I should have been, I was propped in front of my TV at 9pm for my favorite show.  When it was over, the first thing I said to myself was “ok, I am definitely going to have to watch that again”.  Not that I wouldn’t watch it again and again anyway, but in my fevered state, it felt like my mind was just jumping all over the place and having a hard time keeping up. Then I watched it again and realized it wasn’t just me.  The episode itself was all over the place, pretty much all over the world, that is.  No wonder I was having a hard time keeping it straight the first time.

Ok…let’s get started.  Just like always, in no specific order, my rambling observations.

Previously – Last week I was very happy the writers gave us all enough credit to realize we were perfectly capable of remembering events all the way back to the end of Season 6 and didn’t waste precious screen time with a “Previously on Hawaii Five-0”.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case this week.  It seems, even if we’re able to remember things from four months ago, we’re unable to remember what happened just a week ago.  There was so much going on in this episode I really would have preferred them using those few moments for the actual story.  But that’s just me.

Alicia Brown – A Behavior Analyst/Criminal Profiler formerly with the FBI specializing in serial killers.  This is one tough lady and she comes off as such right away.  She is cold, impersonal and unyielding in both her opinions and her resolve.  She is retired and no amount of persuasion is going to make her come out of retirement and help Five-0 no matter how many innocent people could be hurt.   This is also a woman clearly haunted by something… something involving the young woman she’s pictured with in the photo on her shelf.  Looks like a best friend or maybe her sister.  Something traumatic enough that it caused her to retire at such a young age.  Quite probably the young woman was one of the innocent people she either couldn’t save or she feels was hurt because of her.

I thought it was adorable of Steve to think he could outsmart the profiler.  As if she wouldn’t see right through his “innocently” leaving the chess piece behind.  But even knowing his motive she still managed to dig up some information on their case.  The fact that she did that, even after so vehemently refusing to help them earlier shows that whatever happened to cause her to give it all up, the reasons she became a profiler in the first place are still there.  She may not want to help but she feels compelled to help anyway.

I wonder about the information on that cop in the file, Philip Lau.  Why was he was investigating all the serial killers unofficially, on his own?  Was he connected to one of the victims or was it just one of those cases he “couldn’t let go”.  Either way, it seems incredibly convenient he “shot and killed himself” six months ago.  Getting too close?  And, if Alicia is retired, how did she get those records?  If it wasn’t an official investigation, she didn’t get them from HPD.  If HPD had them, Five-0 would have known about it.  If they were Lau’s personal records, how the hell did she get her hands on those??  I’m really looking forward to finding out more about Alicia and how she fits into all of this.

Chin and Sara – There is a common trope in TV called the Cousin Oliver Syndrome.  It’s when a TV show has had an adorable moppet outgrow the moppet stage and they try to recapture the awwww factor with another adorable moppet.  Usually it’s a total failure.  I’m happy to say, if that’s what Five-0 is attempting with little Sara, I’m all for it.  This kid is adorable and in just a few scenes has completely stolen my heart.  If she wasn’t a cutie pie on her own, her scenes with her Uncle Chin are enough to get me choked up.  When she put her head on Chin’s shoulder, after tearfully expressing how she doesn’t want to go away, that she wants to stay with him, I was sniffling up a storm and it had nothing to do with my cold.  I sure hope it works out for these two.

Harry Langford – As a long time James Bond fan I loved the “007” flair of this episode.  From Harry’s little one liners (“easy on the goods there, old boy”) to his suave charm.  When Casta Mitchell fed him the classic opening of “You’re very forward, Mr…?”, my mind easily supplied “Bond, James Bond”.  I’m glad the writers didn’t do a “Langford, Harry Langford” but it was fun to anticipate it for a moment.   The fact that he charmed himself into her bed after using her to get the diamonds was pure Bond.

It was also fun to see a character who can take on Steve.  Their training is obviously very similar and their fighting styles extremely well matched.  The fight sequences in this episode were fantastic.  Watching Harry, unarmed, get away from Lucky Morah’s men and then watching Steve and Harry fight each other was fun.  And Harry had Steve dead to rights, had Danny not forced him at gunpoint to let Steve go.  Of course, this is Five-0, the Steve show, so, of course, he had to get in that last elbow to the face.  We can’t have our hero come out as the loser in a fight, after all, can we? 😉

Jerry Q – I loved the scene of Jerry trying to figure out all of Harry’s MI6 gadgets (with a little help from Lou).  For someone so enamored with conspiracy theories and thoughts of espionage, getting this close to actual spy paraphernalia was a dream come true.  Add to that, he was able to be Five-0’s own “Q” by putting a little “something something” GPS in Harry’s watch.  Jerry was in heaven!

Five-0 dressed to the nines – Oh my God…. does this team clean up well or not?? First at Lucky’s party then later at the medal ceremony, this was an episode with more formal wear than any other, except for maybe Kono’s wedding.  I loved that we got to see Danny not only in his tux at the party but in a morning suit later.  He’s the only one who got to dress up twice! LOL  And speaking of Kono… dear Lord, can she get any more incredibly gorgeous?  That dress was to die for.  I love how it’s just taken for granted she’ll have no problem getting to Lucky, and of course, she doesn’t.  “You don’t need any luck, not looking like that”.  I don’t know if that was an actual line of dialog but it had a Scott Caan ad-lib written all over it.

Globetrotting – From the very beginning, Governor Jamison formed the Five-0 Task Force to get men like Victor Hess “the hell off my island”.  Victor Hess, international arms dealer and terrorist.  Five-0 has spent the last six years fighting crime on the islands and, yes, they have dealt with international terrorists in the past but usually always on their own soil.  I really liked the fact that, just this once, we weren’t confined to Hawaii.  Yeah, jumping from Hawaii to Prague to Pakistan to London was a bit dizzying but I loved we got to go to other places with this story.

Once Five-0 arrested Lucky for Casta Mitchell’s murder that should have been the end of their involvement in the case.  Harry, having been wrongly arrested for the murder (as pretty much every initial suspect is on this show) would have just been released and left to go on his merry way and been allowed to continue his investigation.

But I liked that Five-0 got involved in Harry’s case.  I know there are some who are going to complain that cops from Hawaii have no jurisdiction off the island and Steve and Danny going with Harry makes no sense.  But I’m looking at it this way.  Back in Season 2, during the cross over with NCIS:LA, Sam and Callen had no jurisdiction in Hawaii and Danny and Chin, none in LA.  But each were able to function as part of the other team during the investigation.  Danny and Chin had, in fact, been the first outsiders allowed into the NCIS:LA inner sanctum.

The same way special consideration was made in that case, to allow outsiders to work with the respective teams, I feel the same was made here.  Harry told Steve that the CIA was fully briefed on his mission so Harry was free to function in the US.  I’m sure MI6 made the same allowances for Steve and Danny.

George Cross – I actually got a kick out of this scene.  I know, seeing the Queen giving medals to our guys was a bit silly, but if you really think about it, it’s not impossible for something like this to happen.  I looked it up.

“George Cross, a British civilian and military decoration, instituted in 1940 by King George VI for “acts of the greatest heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger.” The award, which can be conferred posthumously, is usually given to civilians, although it can be bestowed on military personnel for acts for which military decorations are not usually awarded.”

I think averting a nuclear meltdown across most of Europe constitutes “circumstances of extreme danger” as well as taking out a known terrorist, who’s a high value target for both Britain and the U.S., on his own soil.  So, Harry, Steve and Danny getting a medal from the Queen isn’t out of the realm of possibility.  At least, by only seeing the back of her head and hearing her voice, we were spared more unfortunate CGI.   https://www.britannica.com/topic/George-Cross

The Cemetery – I’m sure there are some out there going through fits because of this scene.  I really hoped we wouldn’t be saddled with another Catherine reference before 7.07 but it seems the writers are determined to keep her in Steve’s mind and ours as well.  Ok, let’s discuss it.

It seems obvious to me that Steve is feeling something he’s never felt before. Vulnerable.  He’s been horribly hurt and, whether he follows them or not, he’s under physical restrictions.  He’s on meds.  He’s trying his best to go on as if nothing happened but clearly he is not 100%.  It’s not something he’s really had to deal with before.  Vulnerability isn’t something SuperSEAL is used to.

He was clearly uncomfortable being in the plane.  Alex, as he so often does, was able to project being uncomfortable with only very subtle facial expressions and, yes, body language, which was anything but relaxed.  Danny, of course, noticed it right away, asking Steve if he was ok.  Steve, being Steve, would never admit how he was feeling and, as usual, hid behind bravado by trying to tell Harry the best way to fly the plane.  Did you notice Steve’s insistence that flying lower would get them there faster, as if all he wants is to get off that plane faster?  Danny, seeing this, could have called his friend on it but instead, pawned it off on the old “control freak” line and another liver complaint, saving Steve face.

When Steve was talking to Alicia about the chess piece being left in his house, he wasn’t just angry.  The killer broke into his house, was in the house when Steve was.  There was something in Steve’s eyes.  Almost a look of doubt.  “Maybe what happened took more from me than just my liver. Maybe I’m not as good as I used to be.”  I saw doubt in Steve’s eyes.  Of course, I could be completely off base with that but it just seems to me that he’s in bad place in his head, reflecting on and questioning everything, including himself.

I’m sure Harry had a similar experience after his wife was killed.  His type of work, probably made it difficult to have a normal life, a normal relationship.  I can see a man like that purposely keeping people at arm’s length out of fear, that with his work, they might become collateral.  I can also see a man like that meeting a special woman, one able to penetrate the hard core and the man, putting all reason, reservations and logic aside, letting her into his heart.  And that’s what I saw in Harry’s statement.  She was the only person he “let in” to his heart.  When Steve responds “I got one of those”, he’s talking about the same.  I have never doubted that Steve loved Catherine and she, him, in their own way.  Harry is sadly reminiscing about the woman he lost.  Steve is doing the same.

But Steve isn’t thinking clearly right now, at least as it relates to his “legacy”.  The events of the last few weeks have his thoughts all over the place. He’s replaying events, rethinking unchangeable decisions, reflecting on everything. He’s romanticizing some memories and conveniently forgetting why she’s not around anymore.  The difference being Harry’s love was torn from him while Steve’s left by her own volition.  But I have no problem with the scene because both are simply remembering the women they once loved but are now gone.

The fact that Harry asks Steve “Any chance of getting her back?” only shows that Harry is projecting the feelings he has about losing his wife onto Steve.  Harry has no idea what the facts are in Steve’s situation, has no way of knowing if Steve feels the same way he does.  Steve’s “No” definitively answered that question.  Like the cousin Oliver trope, another is to write a story that looks to be setting something up a particular way but when the denouement finally occurs it’s the total opposite.  I’m hoping all this hand wringing Steve is doing over Catherine, that looks like he’s pining for her and wanting her back is just that. A set up to look one way when in actuality the opposite will occur.

Steve and Danny – Finally to what is and always will be the most important relationship on this show. Seeing these two acting like partners and true friends again was refreshing, as was the return to witty banter as opposed to bitter bitching.  It’s not as mean spirited anymore.  Yes, Danny will always complain about Steve’s driving and yes, we’re all going to have to endure liver references for the rest of time.

But they are acting more like their old selves again.  Steve worried that if they stop off in London for Fish and Chips at a pub Rachel once took Danny to it will make Danny sad and he doesn’t want to see Danny sad.  Danny on the other hand will be happy if Steve goes with him so he can watch him drive on the wrong side of the road.  So far this season the boys are acting like brothers again and I, for one, could not be more thrilled.

Just a couple of last little tidbits:

  •  Why is it when a spy picks a lock to get into a room they don’t just relock the door behind them again? They always seem to be caught, or almost caught, by the goon who come upon the door that’s supposed to locked.  Oh well, I guess I they did we’d lose some of the suspense, wouldn’t we?
  • Do you think we can ban diamonds from Hawaii for a while? I mean, seriously.  Every time more than one of those shiny stones shows up its trouble.

  • I got a real kick out of Harry handling the magic table. Chin was pretty impressed himself.  “You’ve used one of these before.”  “Actually, it’s my first time but it seems pretty straight forward.” ROFL
  • Anyone else notice the Greystone sounds an awful lot like Goldeneye. Greystone is “a next gen encryption tool capable of cracking any computer network” while Goldeneye sends out an electrical pulse which renders all electronic equipment useless.
  •  Speaking of Bond references… I loved the little exchange in the rendition room about the best Bonds.  I agree with Danny that Harry is more of the Daniel Craig version but for me, Sean Connery will always be the Bond.
  • Another little nod…. anyone notice how much dead Casta Mitchell looked like dead Jill Masterson… minus the gold, of course.
  • Lastly in this episode we learned the lobster at Lucky’s party is incredible.  Ergo, it’s perfectly acceptable to hang that guy off the roof.

And there you have it… another great episode of Five-0.  I know it’s only been two episodes but so far this season really looks like a winner!  Ok, off to juice, Tylenol and bed.

    It was a bit strange watching this from my comfy chair after being there on the beach last week…….talk about world’s apart! Kinda like I felt about the episode – great to see Chin playing “dad” doing his best to braid hair – so cute, the first part with Danny & Kono all dressed up……very classy. Also loved the James Bond theme & the action scenes, Jerry in awe of the gadgets and of course the Steve & Danny banter. It was very fast paced – I found myself getting annoyed with all the commercial breaks……I do think the whole thing got away from them as it went on – the old saying about ‘less is more’ came to mind – seemed like they were trying to do too much. Saving Europe and getting medals in 42 minutes ……..I would have liked the award more if it had been for saving the islands from the drug cartel. That said it did cross my mind that Danny would have something to dangle in front of Rachel ……can you imagine, most Brits never get to even see the queen in person. I do like that Steve is showing a little venerability and listening to Danny and LOL at Danny chowing down on shrimp while they hung the guy off the building……..you’re right, he’s come a long way. Did we know how much he loves fish (and chips) All in all totally over the top but I’m so happy to have new episodes I don’t care……time for 703 yet??

    • LOL I never thought of that. That Rachel is British and Danny has now been honored by the Queen. What a great scene that would be if we actually ever got to see Rachel again.

      I agree about the episode kinda getting away, with a ton of stuff going on in 42 minutes but that seems to be the theme with this show doesn’t it? There have been so many episodes when I look up at the clock and there’s like, 10 minutes left, and I think, “how the hell are they going to do this in 10 minutes?”. Yet they always seem to do it.

      Of course, there have also been many episodes where I felt a second hour (or even just the elimination of the secondary story in the episode) would have served the story better. So watching our show jam as much story into 42 minutes as possible isn’t new.

    Great post again Linda. I only came across your blog last week, but now I really look forward to your posts after the new episodes. I’m going to go back and read some of your old reviews. Great work!

    I really enjoyed Harry Langford’s character. It’s not often a guest character captures my attention like he did. He was a very interesting addition.

    I too am glad that Steve and Danny’s friendship is back on the right track. I guess the writers have taken note of the fans observations.

    Personally I’m a bit baffled by the whole Lynn business. It seems to me that the writers can’t seem to decide what to do with her. If we didn’t know that Sarah Carter had filmed for 7.07 then I’d assume they were over but that’s obviously not that case. Your thoughts last week on Steve saying he was single made sense, but for a casual viewer it would be very confusing. Heck, I’m confused and I follow the fandom and see other fans thoughts and perspectives.

    • Welcome to the blog! I’m very happy you found us. I will warn you, if you intend to go back and read from the beginning you may need to allocate a full week. I am not known for my brevity! ROFL

      I agree about the Lynn situation. I am very happy she’s part of 7.07 and I really hope that by that time, Steve will have gotten his head a little more together with regard to her and by that time they are unconditionally solid.

      What I’m hoping is when Catherine inevitably shows up and tells Steve about Doris, Steve doesn’t just take off but sits down and explains to Lynn what’s going on. Explains to her the way Catherine never explained to him. I’m hoping that Lynn, while worried about his safety and not happy with him leaving, tells him she understands, that, of course, he must help his mother. That she loves him, supports him and will be there for him when he gets back. All the things people in solid relationships do for each other. I then hope, when it’s all over, Steve sees how Lynn was there for him and her solid support for him. Will any of this happen? I am not going to kid myself. Probably not!

    Great review Linda. Loved the Bondlike mini movie. The emotions Alex gave Steve the vulnerability he is feeling. There were the old feels from earlier episodes. Loved the hanging from the roof. I would have liked to have seen this episode on the big screen at sotb like I saw the premiere this year. An experience I will not forget

  9. As usual, Linda, this blog is a great read. You have analyzed very well the episode. Together Chin and Sara are phenomenal, and “James Bond” aka Harry very convincing. kono, Jerry, Danny, Steve…all amazing
    My only disagreement with you is about Steve, his relationship with Cath and inappropriate mention, in my humble opinion.
    the only great loves that we saw in H50 was between Chin and Malia and now between Kono and Adam, and of course Mr and Mrs GROVER
    therefore I think that Steve and Cath never had intense relationship (neither explicitly nor implicitly) They love, yes, but this is not true love, somehow, we never really saw it. I think these are two people who feel well together for some time but not permanently, they do not have the same priorities and their way are separate is precisely because they are not really in love. What is missing now Steve, it’s not Cath, but the perception of having someone in his life and continue to say that she was the woman of his life seems forced.
    so I hope to continue to talk about her is a way to introduce her character in ep.07 and allow Steve to put the word end to this endless story become a lament really boring and most useless

    • I agree with you. Back in Season 3, when I really liked Steve and Catherine together, they just felt very natural to me. Like two people who knew each other well, who loved each others company, who were comfortably relaxed and well matched. At the time, if felt like a good relationship, one that served them both well. Yes, I felt they did love each other.

      But once Catherine left the Navy and became part of Five-0 that easy relationship seemed to disappear. It became almost uncomfortable for them to be together. Now, I don’t mean they should have been all over each other at the office. That would have been incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate. But even the easy smiles and warm glances were gone. We never saw them at home again, never saw them just being cute on the sofa again. It was then that I began to feel that, ok, these two may love each other but they are not “in-love”.

      I think, right now, Steve is remembering the good times, and there WERE good times, we can not deny that. But he’s also conveniently forgetting the reasons why she’s not there anymore. He’s blaming himself and his job and his choices which is utterly ridiculous! The only reason why she is not there is… her!

    Loved the episode, loved your review. The episode had a definite season 1 feel to it, a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat-and-hold-on-for-dear-life good. Twists, turns, intrigue, gizmos, gadgets, gorgeous Kono, our boys all cleaned up and dressed to kill. The banter vs. the bitching. And, the return of McSEAL. Watching him dangle the bad guy over the edge just made me smile!!

    Jury is still out on Alicia. Need a lot more time to to warm up/figure her out since she’ll be an integral part of the show for a few more episodes (I found the same thing when she replaced Hetty on NCIS-LA). Definitely more intrigue coming!

    I felt Steve’s uncomfort on that flight (I think I’m becoming a bit of a body language expert myself 😉😉) and if he could’ve sweated, he would’ve been a puddle. I heard him, in my head, telling Lynn “it’s called combat breathing, breathe in, hold 4 seconds, breathe out, 4 seconds, repeat.”

    The only thing that saved the cemetery scene for me was Steve’s emphatic NO she wasn’t coming back. Being rejected and lied to hurts and the time is coming to finally and definitively move forward to bigger and better things. (Just a thought, sorry to beat a dead horse, but why when she said to not wait it was fine, but when he told her the same thing, and moved on, there’s a lot of screaming. Double standard much?? Yes.)

    BTW, the only thing I think of with Greystone, is Tarzan, The Legend of Greystone!

    • Thanks for your comments! I personally have given up trying to understand the standards with which the Steve/Catherine relationship is judged. I don’t follow the fervent McRollers. Their logic baffles me and I’m sure mine baffles them as well. It serves my blood pressure well to just ignore them.

      Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes is one of my favorite movies from the 80s. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that myself. Great catch! ♥

        Aahh Greystoke, not Greystone. I remember taking my nephew and niece to see it, both kinda young at the time, and the movie had some disturbing scenes in it. I was watching them for the weekend and she literally sat on my head the entire night because she was so upset from the movie. I think I’m still blamed for some imaginary problem she still has because of the movie! LOL!

      • LOL Yeah…. we do tend to get blamed for “lingering” issues when the kids grow up… don’t we?? LOL

        When I was little, my dad used to tell me Tarzan stories at bedtime. He was a voracious reader so my bedtime stories tended to be classics like Tarzan, Moby Dick, Sherlock Holmes and, of course, James Bond. Greystoke was a particular favorite because it reminded me of the stories he used to tell me.

      I pretty much liked all that everyone else liked in this episode. I wasn’t sure whether Steve’s behavior in the plane was really supposed to be him stressed about flying again or simply a tool to let Danny pick on him. I would like to think it was a chance to see the reality of Steve’s vulnerability. That first scene of the episode also had him appearing much more vulnerable than usual. Linda, I like your take on his reaction to someone getting into his house; you may have thought more about it than the writers!
      I don’t necessarily agree with the interpretation of Steve in the cemetery. At least ya’ll did agree he was talking about Catherine and how important she was to him. Evidently some people in the fandom didn’t even understand what she had meant to him in the past (whether you think the same of his feelings for her now or not.). His answer of “no” was to the question of whether he thought he could get her back. He doesn’t see a reason for her to come back. Remember, he doesn’t know episode 7 is out there. Yes, I know PL’s comments about that episode. The fact that they can’t start over in that episode doesn’t mean Steve will not have to revisit feelings at some point with her return. At this point, he assumes she is gone forever. He can decide she left him one too many times or he can decide he waited too long to make future plans with her. Why should a woman hang around for “more of the same” when there has been no talk of a future? I’m watching someone go through the same thing right now in real life. She has a great guy and has decisions to make about her own life, but he won’t commit to anything.
      Anyway, just a couple of thoughts. As has been said before, the writers can do whatever they want with these characters no matter what we fans think or want to make sense.
      Despite the fact that McRollers and nonMcrollers seem to conflict a good bit, i like to find the things we do agree on and try to give my observations where we don’t. We have so many other great things to share about our favorite characters.
      For one, can we agree, we want to see Steve in that jacket again? Hopefully that will not be put into the “England only” wardrobe. And a second, bummer for this episode was that we did not see Steve in a tux.

      • Thanks for the comment Joy. I agree with what you said about some people in the fandom not recognizing that Steve did love Catherine. I mean, he wasn’t going to ask her to marry him just for fun. And you’re also right, Steve’s “no” was a direct answer to Harry’s question “any chance of getting her back”. The answer can be interpreted as a simple “no…. there’s no way to get her back” or the more complex “no…. there’s no way I’d take her back”.

        How people interpret the response is solely based on the lens through which they view that relationship and the character of Catherine. Those who love Catherine see it as “there’s no way to get her back but I’d take her back in an instant if I could”. Those how dislike Catherine see it as “there’s no way I’d take her back after all that’s happened”. Then there are those who are not committed to either camp who can see it happening either way.

        I do think you are 100% right that when Steve and Catherine do meet up again they have some serious talking to do. I don’t know how much time there will be for that, since 7.07 seems to be predominantly Doris and Steve’s story. But I hope these two do get the time for their “talk”. This situation, no matter which way anyone wants it, needs to resolved one way or the other and permanently.

  11. I really loved this episode. I’m in agreement with Danny, though. Roger Moore was my favorite Bond. I loved the humor he added to Bond. He was the first Bond my son saw and I still remember his reaction to him. This episode was just plain fun. It seems Steve and Danny got to wear all sorts of costumes in this one. And they did justice to all of them. I love how our boys are acting. I know they are 40 now but they are still boys to me. The banter and friendship are my favorite part of the show. And Danny has truly come a long way. I loved how he was just standing there eating lobster while they were hanging a guy of the roof. He even gave Steve a bit of it. Only us true fans will remember his reaction the first season when Steve did that. I guess Steve has influenced Danny more than he realizes. And I loved that our English spy had a little fun at Jerry’s expense. Jerry had indeed “fiddled” with his watch. Jerry has really grown on me. I think we are in for a great season.

    Another great episode! I agree with you about Alicia-she seemed very cold,with little feelings. As for the person in the picture with her,to me she looks like she could be Alicia’s daughter perhaps,but she could be a sister,as you suggested. Love the scene with Chin & Sara-hope everything works out for everyone involved and in Sara’s best interest! Kono looked hot as usual in that gorgeous dress-I don’t know if any bad guy could resist her if she keeps looking like that! I loved Harry-wouldn’t mind seeing him come back for an episode or two,was very surprised that he could handle the magic table so well. You are right-Steve & Danny are slowly getting back to their old selves and I really love that! In the cemetery scene,I think Steve was finally saying goodbye to what he had with Catherine,as hard as that may be to do,but truly it is the only way he can really move on with his life. All in all, a great episode and like you, I think this season will be a winner!.

    Lovely review, however, as a British person I found it a little insulting they awarded the George Cross as it can only be awarded to British citizens and I believe this undermines the prestige of the award and the people who have recieved it. Also, it used to be able to be awarded to members of the Commonwealth, but this is no longer the case.
