Many bloggers are taking the opportunity, during this last week of 2014, to look back on Hawaii Five-0 in various ways. Some people are making lists of their favorite episodes; others are making lists of favorite moments between certain characters. Everyone has their own unique perspective on what made the year a favorite for them. So I guess now it’s my turn but instead of trying to do a recap of the year or try to select particular episodes as favorites, I decided to look at the 20 episodes which make up the year 2014 and fondly remember what some of my favorite moments were.
I went back to the files I have on my computer of screen caps I saved for each episode to see what I had chosen at the time as favorite moments. I noticed something that really didn’t surprise me all that much. While a lot of my favorite moments directly related to the crime of the week or the ongoing arcs and focused on great writing and great performances, many were just moments that I particularly enjoyed at the time. And for the most part they revolve around my favorite character (Steve), my favorite pairing (Steve and Danny), anything to do with the Ohana and moments that were just plain fun. I suppose I am nothing if not predictable.
So here we go……
January 10, 2014 – 4.12 ‘O kela me keia manawa – Now and Then – The reunion of Kono and Adam and their return to Oahu and their Ohana. The acting of Grace Park during their reunion was happily heartbreaking. I just love her!
January 17, 2014 – 4.13 Hana Lokomaika’i – The Favor – Looking back at Chin’s memories of meeting Malia for the first time on that beautiful beach!
January 31, 2014 – 4.14 Na Hala a Ka Makua – Sins of the Father – The Ohana get together on the roof at the end of the episode. Anytime we have Ohana moments are a favorite of mine!
February 28, 2014 – 4.15 Pale ‘la – Buried Secrets – Seeing Gracie growing up and how Danny is not a fan! LOL
March 7, 2014 – 4.16 Hōkū Welowelo – Fire in the Sky – The beginning of Steve’s PTSD (here’s hoping we see much more of this in the year to come!)

Must have been painful, forcing yourself to go back through all those screencaps. Your sacrifice is duly noted and appreciated! 🙂 I love all your choices, of course.

LOL Oh yes….torture! LOL I really wanted to do an end of year recap but Wendie and bloggers had already done it and quite wonderfully too. I didn’t think I could add anything significantly different. And the idea of trying to recap more than a few episodes with the way I run off at the keyboard made my head spin. LOL I thought this was a nice different approach. Glad you liked it!

We love when the characters are in danger or pain LOL. But we know it will all be ok and it makes for such good TV and pushes the actors to their best work. Love looking at all the highlights – great job Linda.
